Terms.

The rules for using the site, joining the membership, and commissioning work.

Who you are dealing with

The site is run by Gareth Evans, trading as thehardwareguy. Email gareth@thehardwareguy.co.uk. Postal address: Unit 30324, PO Box 92, Cardiff, CF11 1NB.

The site

You may read the public pages, watch the free films, and use the project pages. Some builds are published as open source. Where a project page states a licence, that licence is the one for those files. An account is needed for the Fusion 360 course, the members’ files, and the members’ Discord.

Accounts

Use your own email and a password you keep to yourself. The account is held by Wix. You are responsible for what happens through your login. I may close an account that is shared, misused, or used to attack the site.

Membership

The public plans are £9.99 a month or £99 a year. Both open the same things: Fusion 360 for Beginners, the original CAD and 3D files linked for members, and the members’ Discord. The price on the membership page is the price at the time you join. Checkout and the card or PayPal payment happen on Wix, not on this page.

You can end a membership from your account. A plan that renews stops at the next payment, and access lasts until the period you have already paid for. A plan that is valid until you end it closes when you end it. Wix sends the confirmation.

If you are a consumer in the UK, you can cancel a distance contract within 14 days of joining without giving a reason. For digital content, that right can end sooner only if you have asked for the content to start during the 14 days and have acknowledged that you lose the right. This site does not yet collect that acknowledgement, because the checkout is on Wix. Until it does, email me within 14 days and I will treat the cooling-off right as still open. After that, the cancellation rule in the paragraph above is the one that applies.

The course and the files

A membership lets you watch the course and download the members’ files for your own use, including your own builds. It does not let you resell the course, republish the films, or give your login to anyone else. The words, films, and files stay mine, or stay with the person who owns them, except where a project page says otherwise.

Design, tutoring, and fabrication

Paid design, tutoring, and making a part are separate from the membership. They are agreed by email. Where a page states £50 an hour, that is the rate unless we agree another one in writing. Tutoring is remote, on Zoom, and needs three days’ notice. Payment for a session is after the session.

What I am not promising

The build notes are a record of how a machine was made. They are not a promise that a copy will be fit for a particular job. You are responsible for working safely. I do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that UK law does not allow me to limit. Otherwise my liability for using the site is limited to the amount you paid me in the previous 12 months, or nothing if you have not paid.

The law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales hear disputes, without taking away any right you have as a consumer to bring a claim in your home courts.
